MEET MATT CROSS
Owner | Safety & Compliance Consultant, Cross Training Services

Matt Cross has spent more than 30 years helping people work safely and go home healthy. He has worked in healthcare, oil and gas, construction, and trucking. Through all of it, his goal has been the same: keep workers safe and help companies build safety programs that work in the field, not just on paper.

Matt started his career in healthcare, where he built a hospital’s cardiac rehab and wellness department and trained staff in First Aid/CPR and bloodborne pathogens. He later owned and operated his own in-home care company for 18 years, writing its policies and keeping it OSHA compliant — so he understands safety from the business owner’s side, too.

In 2005, Matt moved into oil and gas safety. Over the next decade he held safety roles at Nabors Well Services, Patterson-UTI Drilling, Paul Musslewhite Trucking, American Site Builder, and Xtreme Drilling & Coil Services. He has coached rig crews, run field audits, led root-cause investigations, managed ISNetworld compliance, written HSE handbooks and procedure manuals, run safety committees, and trained hundreds of workers on the jobsite.

Since 2015, Matt has also served as Safety Director/HSE Manager for a trucking and oilfield services company, where he oversees safety, DOT compliance, training, and documentation. Running safety every day for a working company is what drives his approach at Cross Training Services. He knows what auditors look for, what contractor-management platforms require, and what crews need to stay safe.

Matt is a Certified Safety & Health Official (CSHO) through TEEX and a certified Veriforce instructor, teaching SafeLand, H2S, Safe Driver, Confined Space, and more. He is trained in both OSHA CFR 1910 General Industry and CFR 1926 Construction standards. Through Cross Training Services, he serves as an outsourced safety department for companies that need experienced help without hiring a full-time safety manager. His services include:
• ISNetworld, Veriforce, and Avetta support
• Safety manuals, policies, and procedures
• DOT compliance
• Onsite audits and inspections
• Training that meets OSHA and ANSI guidelines, including H2S Awareness and Forklift Certification

Faith and Family
Above everything else, Matt is a follower of the Lord Jesus Christ. He believes his first calling is to serve Christ, and that faith shapes how he does business. He treats every worker as someone with value, deals honestly with every client, and believes keeping people safe is a way of caring for them.

Matt and his wife, Becky, celebrated 25 years of marriage in June 2026. For years, they have mentored and coached couples together. For the past eight years, they have taught re|engage, a marriage class that began at Watermark Church in Dallas. They help couples build strong, Christ-centered marriages, and they share encouragement through their Facebook page, From This Day Forward. Matt and Becky also plan to start hosting marriage retreats. Matt often says protecting families at home and protecting workers on the job come from the same place: love for people.

Matt and Becky have four children and three grandchildren. When he is not on a jobsite or in a classroom, you can usually find Matt at the grill cooking for family and friends.
